What kind of clients do you work with?

I work with individuals, small businesses, non-profit organizations and start-ups that want a professional website or branding materials but don’t have the budget to hire an expensive agency and want a more personal, friendly experience.

Why do I need a website?

Your website is your connection to the world. Your site communicates with potential customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Whether you’re selling goods, offering services, promoting an event or just want to share something with the world, putting it online increases your chance of being noticed and reaching your target market. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Can you imagine what a website can say for you?!

A website expands your reach. People from within your own neighbourhood to cities on the other side of the world have access to your products and services from the comfort of their own space via the internet just by visiting your website.

Having a website will increase the visibility of your business or group or whatever it is you want people to see so that customers/members can find it. The majority of today’s consumers are online and more are delving into the world of digital connection each day. The convenience of online shopping, instant connection of social media, the ever broadening scope of digitally accessible information, makes the internet a very attractive medium to all. It crosses the barriers of age, gender, race, religion, economic status, citizenship, education level etc.

These days, if your business doesn’t have a credible web presence, you don’t exist for a continuously expanding segment of the market.

In today’s business, social and political climate, you need to be online. You need a website that ranks well in search engines, makes a good first impression and converts visitors into customers, members, supporters. Whatever it is you are hoping for. Your competitors do!

How much does a website cost?

Website design is determined on a project by project basis. How much it will cost depends on what you need and want. Whether or not you already own a domain name, have a hosting account set-up, what kind of functionality you want, if you need photographs taken, stock images purchased, graphics created, how many pages your site needs, if you need branded email set up, etc. These factors all play a role in determining the scope and amount of time that needs to go into building your website.

To establish how much your project will cost, contact me to start the process for creating your personalized quote. Each site is custom-built so I will create a quote for you based on your specific needs.

How long will it take to build my website?

How long it will take to build your website depends on the scope of your project. The website design process generally takes anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks. Of course, this is highly contingent on several factors, including your response time, the number of revisions that are required, how quickly required materials are provided to me, etc.

The process starts with an initial meeting or conversation to discuss the look and functionality you are looking for. From there, I’ll put together an initial design concept for you to review. If you like it and want to move forward, we’ll determine a delivery timeline for the project, sign a services agreement and secure the deposit payment (50% of the estimated project cost is due upfront, remainder due on delivery). Once an agreement is signed and deposit made, I’ll make any necessary revisions to the design concept based on your feedback. Then, after you have approved the final design concept and I have received the required website content materials from you (i.e. images, text, etc.) I’ll get to work developing your actual website.

*Long term contracts for ongoing webmaster work and maintenance are available. Cost is based on the number of hours required per month.

What is WordPress and why do you use it?

WordPress is an open source web software used to create highly functional websites and blogs. It started as a blogging system, but has evolved to be used as a full content management system through thousands of plugins, widgets, and themes.

It’s an excellent platform to build any website with. It’s flexible, easy to use, search engine friendly, has dynamic functionality and is mobile friendly. It has a lot to offer. In fact, due to its robust features, many top brands use WordPress to power their websites. It’s great for building websites for companies or associations, online stores and auction sites, portfolios and galleries for artists, photographers, musicians and other creative ventures, travel information sites, political campaigns, fundraising events, non-profit organizations, blogs and online journals, directories, forums, etc.

What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It’s a technique to help your website rank well in internet search results. It’s a practice used to make sure that people can find your website for the search terms they type into web browsers such as Google or Bing.

I want to do most of the work myself but need a little help – will you help me?

So you want to use the popular WordPress platform to build your website yourself but you don’t want your site to look like an out of the box website template. No problem! I can help you get your site just the way you want it whether it’s a few simple design tweaks or a more fulsome design overhaul. I’ll help you with whatever steps you get stuck on.

 ART & PHOTOGRAPHY RELATED QUESTIONS:

How does commissioning a painting work?

When you contact me to consult you on your personal commissioned painting, I’ll go over everything entailed in the process with you in detail. You decide your choice of size, color selection and medium (acrylic or oil). We then go over pricing, process times and payment options.

Note: All commissioned artwork requires a 50% down payment of the total up front as a deposit, the remainder is due before delivery.

What size of painting can you do?

I addition to the usual size options (16″ x 20″, 24″ x 24″, 24″ x 36″ etc.) I also create pairs, triptychs and other groupings to enable the creation of work for larger spaces while avoiding the difficulties of transportation and moving (stairways and elevators) associated with over-sized paintings. For example, three 24″ x 36″ vertical panels can create an overall image of 6 ft wide by 3 ft high. By combining various panel sizes, I can create just the right fit for your space requirements.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. I am happy to ship artwork to any destination in the world.

Shipping charges are based on shipping rates at time of shipment and the packing materials needed to safely transport your art. Shipping rates are based on the size of the package and the distance that it is being  shipped. I work to provide my clients with the most reliable and affordable shipping of their artwork purchase.

Once I purchase a piece of art, how long will it take to arrive?

Artwork is typically shipped within 72 hours of sale. Once your artwork is shipped, you will receive an email with a tracking number so that you can see exactly when your art will arrive.

What is stock photography?

Stock photography is a cost-effective method to obtain royalty free professional photos and images licensed for specific uses without the costs of hiring a photographer directly.

Stock photos and stock photography may consist of photos, computer generated graphics, and other forms of imagery.

What is Royalty-Free Licensing?

Royalty-free images can be used repeatedly without having to pay for every usage or reporting each usage for legal documentation. By purchasing one of my royalty-free images, you are permitted unlimited use of the image, including any photo alterations such as, but not limited to cropping, color alterations, etc. I remain the copyright owner of the image.

GENERAL QUESTIONS:

Can you serve customers outside of Toronto, Ontario?

Don’t live in the Greater Toronto Area? No problem! Online tools such as email or Skype make it easier than ever to collaborate and work with people no matter where they live. And of course, there’s always the old fashioned telephone.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept payment via PayPal, money orders and cheques. Note: PayPal allows for paying with credit cards. *Please allow time for your cheque to clear before your website is built or artwork is shipped.
